So it’s the day after Thanksgiving and I just got online to write this so I could listen to WPOC on the internet. You’ll
notice that Thanksgiving wasn’t much different over here than it is in the states, except that I wasn’t with my family.
Which I guess is a HUGE different, but…  But as I turned on the radio I hear “Have a holly jolly Christmas” on the
radio! Wow, so I guess things are a little different than it seemed they were. With the temperatures still reaching
high 80s, Christmas seems months away. Though I guess today is black Friday and I should start my Christmas
shopping, but it doesn’t seem like it. That, I have to say, was a surprise.

Now onto how my Thanksgiving was. For those of you who know, I recently started a flag football league here at
Camp Torkham. The first game kicked off on Wednesday night. Thanksgiving Day we had three games scheduled.
So now we had football, all we needed was turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie! Our cooks here prepared
us just that. They had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, and every kind of pie you could imagine for being in
Afghanistan. So as you can see we had all the makings of a Thanksgiving except for our families, which perhaps is
the biggest part of Thanksgiving. Though without our families here, there are still a thousand things we were
thankful for. Being here makes you realize that it’s not too much about what you’re missing, it’s about what you do
have to be thankful for that matters.

Christmas is coming up and I know it’s not going to feel anything like Christmas once it gets here. I’ll have to figure
something else out to make it feel like Christmas I guess. Maybe get some tinsel and some kind of Christmas tree
or something! We’ll see I guess.

Well that’s all I have for now.  Keep checking up on the football league board if you’re interested. I’m on the
Predators—who aren’t doing so hot. I have to write up all the game summaries, so I’m a little tired of writing! I’ll
write more later!
